Friar Gate, Derby, in
the early morning, just outside where the original Friar
Gate Chapel used to stand
It was the home of the Dissenting Academy from 1745, and where
many of the important
figures of the Industrial Revolution in Derby used to worship.
This part of Friar Gate,
looking South, leads into The Wardwick, the oldest part of Derby
and is where the gentry had their town houses.
This is the road from
Ashbourne down which Bonnie Prince Charlie and his army entered
Derby in 1745.
The original Friar Gate
Chapel.
