Ladybower Reservoir, Upper Derwent Valley, Derbyshire.
This is my favourite
picture.
In May and June I would
get up at 4am, look to see if the sky was clear.
If it was I would jump in my car, with my Nikon, film and tripod
and head up
into the Peak District. On this occasion I was intent on climbing
a hill near the reservoir,
to capture some views in the perfect early morning light.
As I drove past the
reservoir I noticed the beautiful way the light was falling on
the
trees and field on the opposite bank. I walked to the edge of
the water
and put on the polarizing filter. This meant I could see through
the reflection in the water
which gave even gradation of interest from bottom to top of the
picture.
The time was about 6
or 7am.
