Village Cricket, Riddings,
Derbyshire.
Riddings Park with the
spire of Riddings Parish Church in the distance.
Bernard and Norman Ellis
both played cricket for Riddings in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire
Border League.
Bernard was a fast bowler
who achieved the notable feat of getting 9 wickets in an innings.
Norman was an opening batsman who was so dogged that even his
own parents
got bored watching him (a very useful quality for an opening batsman).
The cricket pitch is
notable for having a tree growing within the boundary.
The plaque in Riddings
Cricket Club House commemorating memorable
past players, including a certain B. G. Ellis.
